I shouldn't know this

Nestle's semi-sweet chocolate chips were my Mom's favorite snack when I was a teenager, so when they went on sale at the grocery for fifty cents for a 12-ounce bag, I bought two bags. I'm keeping them in my "pantry" at work where I keep other food and food-related stuff.

The other day I poured a handful into a little cup that had held mixed nuts earlier in the day and as I nibbled them I noticed that they'd gotten a little salty.

And here's the part that I shouldn't know because it vastly increases the number of chips that I eat at one sitting:

They taste several orders of magnitude yummier when lightly salted.

Oh, dear.

Yup, that's why AB is always tossing a pinch (1/4 tsp) of salt into things. His salt show is pretty good.

They were also my dad's favorite snack. Mom constantly hid them in various places in the kitchen and pantry, but dad could always sniff them out.

I was probably 14 when I realized that I could also steal them by the quarter-cupful and dad would usually be the one to get in trouble. ;-)

Growing up, we ate M&Ms in our movie popcorn and I love trail mix for the combinations of chocolate with salty/savory tastes. Of course, I've given it up for Lent...

All sugary things can be improved by eating them with something salty. Also...if you are ever making chocolate ice cream...don't forget the pinch of salt. It's a not-so-secret secret that makes the best chocolate ice cream ever.
